"Embrace failure" with Chris Seiter

Chris Seiter, the founder of www.exboyfriendrecovery.com and www.exgirlfriendrecovery.com has been helping thousands of broken-hearted individuals win their exes back for over a decade.

Implementing the very creative "no contact rule," which shuts down communication between exes for a certain period of time such in order to create space for each partner allows for healing, self-recovery, and an opportunity for both of you to potentially come back together as a couple, which Chris believes is the key to long-lasting success.

Chris along with his hand-picked coaches helps guide their clients through creative psychological practices to re-attract their exes and win them back for good. Currently, Chris offers his weekly advice on his podcasts, together which generate over 100,000 downloads and YouTube page which currently has over 40,000 subscribers.

Can you tell our readers about your background?

My background is interesting. I went to college at The University of Houston for Humanities. However, I would say that I can’t think of much that I actually use my education for. What has been more helpful for me is to actually get real-life experience.

What inspired you to start your business?

In college, one of my friends had a boyfriend break up with her. The next day she found out she was pregnant and she begged me for help on getting him back. I started Ex Boyfriend Recovery to essentially hold my notes as I helped her. One day I noticed there were hundreds of people reading my thoughts on her situation and it just organically took off from there.

Where is your business based?

My business is based out of my home. I currently have about nine employees and they are stationed all over the world.

How did you start your business? What were the first steps you took?

I started my business from a website, www.exboyfriendrecovery.com. The sole focus was just to help people. I didn’t even intend on making money. So, I put a lot of effort into making sure the content was the best it could possibly be.

What has been the most effective way of raising awareness for your business?

The best advice I could give someone is to be everywhere you can possibly be. Make sure you have a website, YouTube channel, podcast, and social media channels. Do extra research to figure out where your customers congregate and focus more of your energies in those areas.

What have been your biggest challenges and how did you overcome them?

I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced is not letting money dictate decisions. For example, a few years ago I was really big into placing advertising all over the website because it helped make my business more money. As a result, the user experience suffered and people stopped wanting to come to the website. So, I made the executive decision to pull back on advertising for the betterment of the user even though it causes me to make less money. I believe in quality over quantity.

How do you stay focused?

I will freely admit that I struggle with this greatly. Sometimes I’ll go through a spurt where all I will do is work and my whole life ceases to exist outside of that. However, fatigue always catches up and I essentially burn myself out for a week. I think the big change I’ve made here is realizing that 4-5 hours of work a day for seven days is more sustainable for me. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all.

How do you differentiate your business from the competition?

By being willing to do what my competitors won’t do. Sitting down with real-life success stories and picking their brain. Trying to get featured in places that are harder to get featured in. Also, by being willing to sacrifice income for the quality of products.

What has been your most effective marketing strategy to grow your business?

I would have to say that starting a YouTube channel has been a game-changer for us but it’s a lot of work so I wouldn’t advise someone to do it unless they have the time to put into it.

What's your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?

Embrace failure!

I think our society has the wrong relationship with failure. We are taught that if we fail it’s the end of the world. Any successful entrepreneur knows that at the beginning you’ll fail more times than you’ll succeed but it’s all part of the learning process.

What's your favorite app, blog, and book? Why?

App = Kajabi

Blog = Smart Passive Income

Book = Never Split The Difference by Chris Voss

What's your favorite business tool or resource? Why?

My struggle has always been with the organization. I have around nine people who work for me and that requires me to be really on top of things. Over the years I’ve tried a lot of organization tools but for whatever reason, I’ve always gravitated towards Trello. It just helps me see everything from a birds-eye view.

Who is your business role model? Why?

I would have to say Russell Brunson is someone I really look up to. I’ve learned more listening to him than anyone. Maybe it’s because when I implemented a lot of the things he recommended I saw immediate results.

How do you balance work and life?

On average I try to work about four hours a day. My theory is that it’s not only about outworking your competition. It’s about outsmarting them. So, if I can use my four hours more efficiently than they use their four hours I’ll not have to sacrifice time with my family.

What’s your favorite way to decompress?

My dream as a kid was to write the next big fantasy series. I think a part of me still holds on to that dream so I write in my free time. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to use a pen name if I ever get published though because people know me as the breakup guy now.

What do you have planned for the next six months?

The next six months are going to be primarily focused on doing two things.

1.  Create a new product for women who are having trouble finding “the one.”

2.  Help my wife with a business she wants to start.

How can our readers connect with you?

The best place to contact me is probably on one of my two flagship websites:
