My background traces back to a humble middle-class upbringing in Mumbai, India. Against the norms of traditional education, I chose to pursue a career in the Fashion Industry during a time when it was not widely recognized as a solid career path. Driven by a passion to embrace this profession with the same dedication as any other academic pursuit, I sought education at the Fashion Institute of Technology, specializing in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing Management. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work for various fashion brands, where I could apply the knowledge and skills gained from my education.

However, my most significant role came when I became a mother. This pivotal moment opened my eyes to the tireless and often underappreciated work of caregivers who dedicate themselves to nurturing and supporting others. Motherhood presented me with the most challenging yet rewarding job in my portfolio, sparking a new chapter focused on nurturing and inspiring others through my initiative, Gift to Inspire.

What inspired you to start your business?

The inspiration behind starting my business, Gift to Inspire, stemmed from my personal journey as a young mother who made the decision to prioritize caring for my children over pursuing a career. Through this experience, I gained a deep understanding of the hard work and sacrifices made by caregivers who dedicate themselves to nurturing and supporting others, often without receiving recognition or support in return. This realization highlighted the need to uplift and empower caregivers who serve as the unsung heroes of society and shape the future generations.

During this period of caregiving, I found strength and guidance through my faith and scriptural teachings, which ultimately led me to recognize a calling to fulfill the great commission and the great commandment. As a way of expressing love and support for my neighbors, I endeavored to provide resources to assist them in their business endeavors. Drawing from the inspiration of scripture and the importance of faith in my own life, the concept of offering Christian-inspired products became the unique selling point for the Gift to Inspire website.

Gift to Inspire was founded with the mission of giving mothers and caregivers the gift of self-care and the opportunity to generate income while maintaining a strong presence in the lives of their children and loved ones. Many of the artists and creators we collaborate with at Gift to Inspire are caregivers themselves, choosing to remain at home to invest in the upbringing of their children or to care for others. Through this business, we aim to support and empower caregivers by providing a platform for them to showcase their talents, contribute to their families' financial well-being, and find fulfillment in their creative endeavors.

Although Gift To Inspire's main office is located in the USA, our vision transcends geographical boundaries. I consider GTI a global community of artists who support and uplift each other. Embracing the diversity of talents and experiences from all corners of the world, we strive to foster a nurturing environment where creativity knows no borders and where caregivers and artists can find solace and inspiration. 

How did you start your business? What were the first steps you took?

I drew inspiration from Lydia, a remarkable woman from the chapter of Acts in the Bible, who used her business of selling purple clothing to advance God's kingdom. Like Lydia, I felt a calling to use my gifts, background, experiences, skills, passion, and energy to make a positive impact and share the good news about God through my business ventures. The initial steps I took included prayerfully considering this seed of inspiration planted within me to serve others, investing my resources in time and effort to support caregivers, and conducting thorough research to bring my vision to fruition. Just as Lydia used her business to contribute to a greater purpose, I strive to follow in her footsteps by utilizing my entrepreneurial endeavors as a means to help and uplift others while spreading the message of God's love and grace.

What has been the most effective way of raising awareness for your business?

Utilizing social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, as well as advertising through Meta and Google ads, has proven to be the most effective strategy for raising awareness of our business. By engaging with audiences on these platforms, we have been able to reach a wider demographic, showcase our products, and connect with like-minded individuals globally. Through targeted advertising, we have been able to effectively communicate our mission and values, ultimately expanding our reach and impact in the online marketplace.

What have been your biggest challenges and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge is customer acquisition and establishing a presence online through my website. This has truly tested my perseverance and determination. While the journey is ongoing, I am proud of the strides I have made in overcoming these hurdles. One of the most empowering elements of this process has been forging meaningful partnerships with individuals who not only understand but also share my vision. The unwavering support and collaborative mindset we share give me the resilience needed to stay committed to our shared goals. despite any obstacles that may arise. The business has taught me the value of connection, shared purpose, and a collective drive towards a common vision.

How do you stay focused?

Since the website was born out of a calling and passion. To stay focused, I often turn to scriptures for inspiration and strength. This practice helps me maintain clarity of purpose and stay determined as I navigate the challenges of pursuing my passion through my website. Scripture provides me with the guidance and fortitude needed to align with my vision, overcome obstacles, and bring my calling to life.

Gift To Inspire stands out in the competitive landscape as more than just an online marketplace. It is not only a place to shop for carefully selected Christian faith-inspired products but a space to nurture the caregiving community. It is this ethos that sets it apart. My best advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs is to listen to the dreams in your heart and seek guidance and wisdom. Once you've committed to your entrepreneurial journey, stay the course, especially during the challenging times. Remember that seasons change, and with perseverance, there will be fruitful rewards for your hard work and dedication. One of my favorite books is "Called to Create" by Jordan Raynor. This book has been a source of inspiration for me, emphasizing the importance of being faithful to one's calling and purpose in life.

My favorite business resource is the people who believe in the vision and serve as the supportive foundation and driving force behind the business. Their dedication and contribution are the most valuable assets, providing the essential support and inspiration needed to propel the business forward.

Who is your business role model? Why?

One of the most influential figures in my entrepreneurial journey is Lydia from the Bible. Living in a time when women faced barriers and lacked equity in the business world, Lydia stood out as a trailblazer, setting an inspiring example for future generations. Through her entrepreneurship skills, she not only created opportunities for herself but also paved the way for many others. Lydia's commitment to providing employment and supporting noble causes showcased her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact on the community. As a mom juggling both my entrepreneurial pursuits and family life, finding the right balance requires constant attention and care. I kickstart my day with moments of prayer and reflection, setting a positive tone that carries me through the hustle. When things get overwhelming, I've learned the power of taking a deep breath and regrouping to keep my sanity intact. Discovering a passion that seamlessly intertwines with my daily routine has not only made work more enjoyable but has also turned it into a natural extension of who I am. This fusion of passion and purpose not only boosts my productivity but also brings me a deep sense of fulfillment and joy in my roles as both a mother and an entrepreneur. What’s your favorite way to decompress?

My favorite way to decompress is through a combination of meditation, listening to Christian worship music, and spending quality time with my family. The calming practice of meditation helps me center myself and find inner peace amidst the chaos of daily life. The uplifting music and messages in Christian worship music bring me solace and rejuvenate my spirit. And nothing beats the warmth and love I feel when surrounded by my family, creating memories and sharing moments of joy and connection.

What do you have planned for the next six months?

In the next six months, my focus is on reaching out to Christian artists to collaborate on meaningful projects, developing faith-inspired products, and expanding and nurturing our community network. By fostering these connections and creating faith-infused products, I aim to inspire and uplift others while building a strong and supportive community centered on shared values and beliefs. This vision drives my mission to make a positive impact and spread hope and encouragement to those around me.
