Can you tell our readers about your background?
I have been in the field of Social Services for over 17 years, which led me to open my Life Coaching and Empowerment Speaking business. My passion is to facilitate women as they journey to pursuing their passions and purpose.
What inspired you to start your business?
My personal experiences and struggles, in conjunction with my Social Services background, led me to start my business. I want to help women overcome obstacles and negativity, to walk in purpose.
Where is your business based?
My business is based in NJ, but I provide my services online so I am available to anyone, at any time, in any part of the world.
How did you start your business? What were the first steps you took?
The first thing I did when starting my business was to take some coaching classes myself, both personal and professional. I also got certified as a Holistic Life Coach.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness for your business?
I have utilized social media for live streaming and daily motivation and also by word of mouth from people who have used my services.
What have been your biggest challenges and how did you overcome them?
My biggest challenge was a fear of speaking in front of large crowds. I overcame that fear because I knew that there were many women who needed to hear my message and it didn’t matter if the message came out sounding perfect or if I didn’t sound exactly the way I wanted to. The women who needed to hear my message would be able to receive it, no matter how it came out and that was more important than my pride and fear.
How do you stay focused?
My goal is to reach as many women as possible and make them aware of their worth and value, no matter what challenges they may have faced in life.
How do you differentiate your business from the competition?
I don’t really look at other Life Coaches or Speakers as my competition. I am led by God and I share my message and my experiences and how God has enabled me to grow and thrive through it all.
What has been your most effective marketing strategy to grow your business?
I utilize social media.
What's your best piece of advice for aspiring and new entrepreneurs?
Have patience. Do not expect overnight results. Continue to work even when things look like they are not going in the direction you think they should.
What's your favorite app, blog, and book? Why?
My favorite app is Youtube. Not only does it offer valuable information in my field, but I love music and can find pretty much any artist on Youtube, which makes my soul sing.
I don’t really have a favorite blog. My favorite book is Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M. Auel. The main character is a girl named Ayla. We watch Ayla grow from a child into women in this book and the following books. Ayla is the embodiment of what a woman should be; strong, independent, a true survivor, beautiful inside and out, and so much more.
What's your favorite business tool or resource? Why?
My favorite business tool is Canva. I can design many different visual aids for my courses and programs for my business.
Who is your business role model? Why?
Amber Aziza. She is an amazing speaker and coach, who has built several businesses from the ground up.
What do you have planned for the next six months?
During the next 6 months, I will be offering several programs, both online, self-paced and live.
