Invest time in the recruiting and interviewing phase to ensure you have the appropriate individuals. You might even consider employing a remote workforce.

As many business processes can now be conducted online, having staff physically present in your workplace isn't always necessary. There are many benefits to hiring remote workers. Allowing people to work from the comfort of their homes can reduce employee stress, eliminate commuting, and enable them to continue working even if they're feeling a bit under the weather, thereby reducing sick days.

If you’re in an older building and the lighting isn’t the best then this wont promote a great working environment for your staff. From a health and safety point of view the lighting needs to be sufficient so people aren’t at risk of trips or falls where they can’t see unlit areas properly. Inadequate lighting can also cause employees to feel unhappy and experience headaches when they're using screens or in poorly lit areas, and as the boss you do need to be thinking about the mental and physical health of your workforce.

Outsource

Maybe you're unable or unwilling to hire additional employees. It could be because you don't have enough space in your workplace for more staff, or perhaps you want to avoid the added expenses and challenges of hiring new people. The work you need to have compled also might fluctuate, meaning that you don’t want to take on a staff member as there are some times when the work isn’t there meaning you’ll be paying them for no reason. As once you take on an employee in the traditional sense, you have to pay them regardless, they also have rights in terms of sick pay and maternity leave etc.

And if you’re paying this without there being enough work for them to do, this will quickly impact your profits in your business.. In this case, outsourcing is the way to go. Since these kinds of companies will already have the staff, equipment and know how to tackle the jobs you hire them to do, it can be much quicker and work out cheaper than trying to stumble through it yourself. 

Outsourcing isn't only for big companies; it's beneficial for smaller businesses and even home-based ventures. It's particularly helpful for smaller teams because it gives employees more time to focus on essential tasks. They can utilise the skills they have, instead of tackling jobs that are out of their depth. It can be all hands on deck when you run a small business with only a few employees, but ensuring everyone is working the role they signed up for and isn’t spreading themselves too thin will help with productivity in the long run.
