Fans Today and Fans In the Past
While some people think that all fans are fairly similar to one another, there can actually be dramatic differences between seemingly simple fans. The fans that were used in the past did not have safety shields in a lot of cases. The blades of those fans could actually cut people accidentally. While this did not happen all that often, it was still enough of a problem that the design of fans has changed substantially over the course of the last several decades.
Antique Fans
The people who look at antique fans are often instructed to handle these products very carefully. They might be used to the more modern and safer types of fans. Those older fans also tend to have blades that are much sharper than plenty of the ones that are made today. Some older fans are also smaller, and they do not have the same output as the sorts of newer fans that people now use. The fans can have a circular and more rounded shape, while a lot of modern fans tend to have a more angular and square shape. This design consumes more space and covers more distance, which improves cooling.
Still, antique fans have a sort of historic charm to them, and some people are specifically interested in purchasing them now. People who have antique fans should not get rid of them, since there are people who now collect different fans. These people might be collectors of antiques in general, or they could decide to focus on items like fans.
Commercial Products
In some ways, industrial fans and antique fans have some characteristics in common, especially when compared with modern residential fans. Obviously, the fans that are used in modern industries are safer than the ones that were once used more casually decades prior. However, industrial types of fans often have blades that are made from metal.
These metallic blades can help the fans last for longer periods of time. Some of those blades can also help people get much better cooling results. These fans are often part of other devices, and the metallic blades might just be necessary. Fans that were intended for more residential uses will usually have blades that are made out of either plastic or wood material. A wooden set of blades would absolutely not work in an industrial setting of any kind, since the wood could start to rot and cause problems. However, it can be fine in a house that does not have especially high humidity levels. Some of the fans used in industries are also a little bit larger than the residential ones.
