Q&A with Social Media Marketing Maven, Ainsley Kerswill
/Throughout the last few months, I haven't interviewed many social media experts, but when I had the opportunity to interview Ainsley Kerswill of Get Foxy Social Media, I jumped at it. Here's her entrepreneurial story.
Please tell our readers about your background.
I am a 30-year-old mom of two small children, boy 2.5 and girl 5 months. When my son was 4 months old, I started looking for opportunities to start my own business with the goal of being able to earn and income from home so I could stay home longer with him. Over the next 12 months, I had two online businesses - both weren't great and didn't bring in much income and they were so time-consuming for little gain.
Then in January 2016, I took a social media management course. Within six weeks, I had my first social media client on a retainer for 12 months. I was ecstatic! Then I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and was back nursing part time so the business was on the back burner. Once I had my daughter, I was determined to make this business my sole income for the next two years so I didn't have to go back to shift work. I set the intention in November and by March 2017, I had fully replaced my full-time nursing income! Such an amazing feeling!
Why did you start your business?
I started in social media management as I have a passion for seeing other business owners succeed in their business pursuits. After having two "dud" businesses, I knew how bad that is and if I could help others increase their business with social media, I was all over it.
What market does your business serve?
I work primarily with private doctors helping them with their social media so they acquire new patients other than through word-of-mouth. I also work with a restaurant too which is a bit of fun!
What's the largest challenge you've encountered as a business owner?
Being confident in my abilities and putting myself out there to find new clients.
What's your best piece of business advice?
Go for what you want. Set mini-goals for your business each month and focus on getting the results. Do something every day to move you closer to that goal.
How do you like to relax?
I love shopping - online as well as in retail stores; I love getting massages and pedicures, too!
